Born 1972, Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson graduated from the Directing Department of The Polish National Film School in 2001 with the short film "P.S".

His next project, another short entitled "Anna's Day", was filmed in Danmark in 2003 and his debut feature, "Thicker Than Water", was warmly greeted by audience and critics on it's release in 2006. His second feature, "Brim", is currently in post production and will be premiered in 2010.

Árni has received several awards for his works, which have been in competition at festivals around the world, including Clermont Ferrand, Rome, Toronto, Edinburgh and Cannes

 

Árni has written or co-written all his films and also works on occation as a screenwriter for other directors.

Árni also works as a director of commercials and corporate videos.

Árni regularly provides workshops for drama students on film acting at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and The Malmö Theatre Academy, Sweden. He has also lectured on directing and screenwriting for film students at Centro in Mexico City and at the Icelandic Film School.
